The Metropolitan Hotel & Spa
I began my career in the Hotel Industry over 36 years ago on an entry level position in Front Office Department in one of the top five star hotel in new delhi and reached upto the level of Asst Manager. My next destination was another beautiful boutique hotel where I achieved the position of Hotel Manager. I loved my job and developed a huge passion for our Industry. The Rest is history and the result of lots of hard work, great mentors along the way and a portion of luck. Observing people and their habits has always been sort of a hobby for me. I believe that everyone has something to offer if you are looking to learn from them. My greatest teachers were my Customers and My Colleagues. Few of my qualities and skills which helped me a lot in my growth are Honesty, Passion,Stress Management, Understanding of Luxury & Quality,Managing a challenging work force,Focus towards Guest’s satisfaction, Thorough knowledge of Revenue Management, Offline and Online Sales etc.
A large period of my time I had spent with Vikram Hotel( Now Known as Park Inn by Radisson) and after 18 years of my association with the organisation I left it in 2005 and Joined The Metropolitan Hotel & Spa, New Delhi. During my association with Vikram Group the company expanded and opened two more properties in Nainital & Jaipur. This association taught me a lot as I had been given free space to learn and perform. I expanded the reach of the group not only within Delhi market but in Ahemadabad, Baroda, Surat, Navsari, Anand, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi through my regular sales visits. During this period in 1996 I got the opportunity to attend an work shop organised by FHRAI. This workshop totally changed my vision for future business as the Trainer was Mr. Peter Cooner and the subject was Digital Business. It was altogether an different learning experience for me and I immediately started working on it. The results were encouraging
In 2005 I joined The Metropolitan Hotel and Spa, New Delhi which was under the management contract of Nikko Hotels International. I worked with Japanese, French and American General Managers and developed new skills. During my last one decade of association with The Met I worked in various capacities like Head Front Office, Head- Rooms, Head – Sales, GM and finally achieved the position of Vice President & General Manager. Here I fully used my skills of E Commerce and reached on top with Excellent Growth. Few of the major reasons of my growth here were my excellent understanding of Business Management, Revenue Growth, Man Management, Customer Care, Excellent Contacts in Corporate world and Leisure Market. The team I had developed in different departments of the hotel supported me and helped me in achieving my Goals. Due to the Trust of the Owners and support from my colleagues & customers, my dreams became reality. The Met always hired Expats only for the top position but I am the first Indian who was given the opportunity to reach to the position of Vice President & General Manager. There had been many memorable moments like welcoming the celebrities like Ms. Asha Bhonsle, Kareena Kapoor, Shreya Ghosal, Jagjit Singh, Gurdas Man, Farhan Akhtar, Shraddha Kapoor, Kapil Sharma, Gulam Ali, Kailash Kher, Rajpal Yadav etc etc, Winning & Receiving prestigious awards from prestigious organisations, fantastic feedbacks/reviews posted by customers on different online sites etc
